What Christianity Teaches Us? June 03 2014

Bible Blessings Christian store with quality christian gifts

You have problems; you are depressed, overwhelmed, and anxious! Welcome to life! Now, I do not mean to minimize anyone’s pain and suffering but the fact is we all live in a sin cursed world and things are not always going to go like we desire. My initial reaction is to simply say, “Get over it!” Get on with your life… move on! But that may seem a little to blunt and unsympathetic.

Some folks indeed seem to have more than they can bear. This is not true! You can bear it, maybe not alone, but with friends and family, the church, and in Christ Jesus we can! While I understand that there are clinical issues that many deal with the fact is that in our society far too many people are crutch bound and wallowing in self-pity.

The answer is simple. Maybe not as simple as Bobby McFerrin’s admonition, “Don’t worry, be happy” (you’re singing now aren’t you!), but close. Look, Jesus came to give us an abundant life (John 10:10). So if you are a faithful Christian you need to stop and ask yourself these questions:

  • Why the long face?
  • Why am I so grumpy and nasty to everyone I meet?
  • Why do I face each day with a depressing, defeatist attitude?
  • Why do I consider anything other than my current situation an improvement?
  • Why can’t I be happy right were I am?

The answers to these questions are simple.

  • No good reason!
  • Because I simply have a bad attitude!
  • Because I have chosen to do so!
  • Because I base my happiness on externals!
  • There is no reason why I can’t!

What does the Bible say about all this? James says to be happy when you have difficulties (James 1:2). Jesus says that when we are persecuted and reviled it is a good thing and we should, “Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven” (Matthew 5:10–12). The apostles rejoiced when they suffered shame for the name of Jesus (Acts 5:41). When the Lord refused to remove the thorn in the side of Paul telling him that, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness,” Paul said he took, “pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:7–10). As Christians we are to rejoice and be glad when we suffer in Christ’s suffering (1 Peter 4:13–16). And if we are living godly lives we are going to suffer (2 Timothy 3:12).

Jesus suffered more than any man ever has: He left heaven, gave up His equality with God, lived a life of poverty, loneliness, and temptation, He suffered the loss of family and friends, He was despised, rejected, betrayed, mocked, beaten, and put to death. What’s your problem?! What practically can you do?

  • Greet everyone you meet with a smile and a warm greeting (1 Corinthians 16:20; Romans 12:10). Don’t grunt and growl, mumble and moan. Smile and be happy!
  • Pray! Talking with God and giving Him your cares and trials is not only practical, it is commanded (1 Peter 5:7)! And then leave them with Him to deal with!
  • Do what you can do and forget about the rest or put it on your list of things to do tomorrow!
  • Read the Bible! Studying God’s word and making application to your life is essential to good spiritual and mental health.
  • Don’t listen to gossip, neigh Sayers, and bad news (1 Timothy 5:13)! Remember, “Garbage in, garbage out.”
  • Be active! The worst thing you can do is stay in bed with the covers pulled up over your head and the blinds drawn. Get out and live!!!!

The most important thing we can do though is to make sure we are in a good relationship with God. We must obey his commands and humbly submit ourselves to his will be repenting of our rebellious lifestyle (Acts 17:30), confess Him as the only begotten Son (Matthew 10:32–33) and being baptized for the remission of our sins (Acts 2:38; 1 Peter 3:21). We can live our lives without the guilt and weight of sin that so easily troubles us (Hebrews 12:1). Be happy! And be faithful!

Only Bible Blessings® Creates Stylish Christian Gifts May 06 2014

Bible Blessings Quality Christian Gifts and ProdutcsBible Blessings® knows Christian gifts are more than luxurious fashion accessories that represent your faith. Christian gifts in other forms allow you to overcome many obstacles in life.

God gives each of us a measure of faith. But you must develop it by building yourself up on your most holy faith. Faith under attack is faith under construction. It's in the battles of life that you discover whether you have nurtured faith or neglected faith!

We find it easy to love people who are easy to love. In reality, we tend to like people who are like us. Furthermore, we assume that God’s love is bound by the same standards. If He loves us, we assume it must mean that we are not all that bad. Not only is this view false in every way, it destroys a deep appreciation for the amazing beauty of God’s love — that He loved the unlovely, and died for the unloving.

D. A. Carson illustrated the difference between our vision of love and God’s:
Charles and Susan are walking down the beach, hand in hand. They’ve kicked off their shoes and the wet sand squishes between their toes. Charles turns to Susan, gazes deeply into her large hazel eyes and says, “Susan, I love you; I really do.” What does he mean? If we assume he has decency and Christian virtue, the least he could mean is something like, “Susan, you mean everything to me. I can’t live without you. Your smile paralyzes me from fifty yards; your sparkling good humor, your beautiful eyes, the scent of your hair — everything about you transfixes me...I really love you.”

Or do his words I love you mean something like, “Susan, in spite of the fact that your nose is so large it belongs in cartoons, your hair has enough grease to lubricate an eighteen-wheeler, your knees make a camel look elegant, and your personality would scare Attila the Hun, I really love you.”

I’m guessing Charles meant the first one! Yet this is how human love differs from God’s love. When Romans 5 tells us that God “loved us,” it doesn’t mean that God looked down on us and said. “You mean everything to me. I can’t live without you: your personality, your witty conversation, your beauty, your smile — everything about you.”

Not a chance! When God says, “I love you,” He is saying, “Listen — your nose and greasy hair, your disjointed knees and selfish personality, your wretched sinfulness — all make you disgustingly unattractive to Me. But I love you because I have chosen to love you, through My Son, your Savior.”

The gifts you have been given by God are yours to share. It is a time to give up and let go of the doubt and negative energies in your life and focus on sharing your spiritual gifts with others.

Bible Blessings® offers tips for Quality Christian Gifts of Kindness May 01 2014

Bible Blessings your quality Christian Gifts and productsBible Blessings® Quality Christian Gifts wonders if it sometimes seems like we have lost our sense of civility. Quality Christian gifts come in various forms and sometimes all it takes is showing the gifts of kindness to bring back quality to our lives and relationships.

Grow a garden of kindness

All too often these days, and thanks in large part to social media, people can connect with millions of other people and make disparaging remarks with little to no thought. While it is easy to make mean and hateful remarks, what purpose does it serve?

Instead of spreading mean and unkind thoughts, why not use your Christian gifts to grow a quality garden of genuine kindness? Here are some suggestions:

Treat others as you would like to be treated: this goes for both online and offline interactions with others.

Forgive one another: why carry around a grudge? The only purpose of staying angry at someone for a past argument or negative action towards you is to continue to take up negative energy.

Love one another: you’ll be amazed at how much lighter you will feel, and happier, too, when you choose to love other human beings instead of disliking them. And you’ll be surprised at how the love you share will be paid forward to others.

Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry: it is the wise person who listens before speaking. Truly hear what the other person is saying before assuming to know the person’s intentions.

Go forth, then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, with hearts filled with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience, bearing with one another and, if you have a complaint against another, forgive that person; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Most importantly, always seek to give your love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

The secret to quality Christian gifts that inspire successful relationships April 22 2014

Inspire Successful Relationships with Quality Christian Gifts from Bible Blessings Quality Christian gifts inspire successful relationships. When it doesn’t always seem possible, how do you provide the quality Christian gifts needed to help your relationship thrive and succeed?

The right kind of quality Christian gifts

Too often today, people think they have to show their love by buying expensive gifts for their significant other. Who among us hasn’t seen that guy or girl frantically running around on Valentine’s Day in search of the “perfect” gift for his or her significant other?

The amount of money you spend has nothing to do with quality Christian gifts – the kind that are designed to bring you closer together, represent your faith and love for one another. So, what is the secret to expressing your love and commitment? Check out these three inspirational items that are virtually free and more meaningful than that gift from Tiffany’s:

  1. Active Listening - it seems simple enough, right? But do you really listen to what your significant other is saying? Do you verbally recognize the things your significant other is doing? Taking time to actively listen is one of the best quality gifts you can give your partner to let him or her know you empathize with what he or she is going through and that you appreciate that he or she is sharing their thoughts with you.
  2. Encouraging Words – nothing brings a couple closer than knowing they are each other’s biggest fan. When you sing his or her praises in front of friends and family, you show your partner how much you admire and respect him or her. Pick one quality, accomplishment, or gesture and lift him or her up.
  3. Let Go – remember that argument you had six months ago where your partner did – insert negative action here…Harboring resentment, turning a cold shoulder and engaging in the “silent treatment” represents a passive-aggressive fight. It is neither productive nor Christ-like and can be quite detrimental to a relationship. Instead, let it go. When you’re tempted to bring up that awful thing your partner did in the past, stop, push through it and let it go.  Stay open and stay honest and work through it. Remember, it’s all small stuff.
Think about the unique needs of your partner and your relationship. How can you support both through your God-given quality Christian gifts? What would it look like to actively listen, use encouraging words and let go of grudges and, instead, bring vulnerability into the places where you most want to shut-off, turn off, or control?

And, when it seems like you just can’t, remember one of the most often quoted and inspirational verses in the Bible: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

Bible Blessings® knows true leaders’ of quality Christian gifts pay it forward April 15 2014

True leaders pay it forward

Bible Blessings® knows it’s become increasingly common to be cynical about the quality Christian gifts of leaders who profess a purpose beyond profit and a desire to take better care of their employees, congregations and communities. The next generation, known as millennials, wants to know that leaders are genuine in their commitment to providing quality Christian gifts to society.

Where are the genuine leaders?

Knowing whether or not leaders are sincere and selfless in offering quality  gifts should not be difficult to determine nor provide.  At the most practical level, people want to know how leaders are giving back to communities and employees. People want to work at companies that care about the bigger picture and not just the bottom line. They want to see a purpose beyond profit.

A 2012 survey of 60,000 employees at 50 companies around the world, conducted by the consulting firm Towers Watson, found that organizations that invested most in the sustainability of their employees generated nearly three times the operating margins of those who invested the least.

Leaders who understand the importance of giving back or “paying it forward” understand that doing so is a form of enlightened self-interest. When companies invest in better meeting the needs of their employees and their communities, the results show up at the bottom line.

Fueled by a growing socially-conscious attitude of the millennial generation, higher consciousness simply means the capacity to be conscious of more and to exclude less. This form of conscious capitalism recognizes a wider world and a more community-focused world view. Conscious leaders have the courage and the vision to see that we’re all in this together and that extending our circle of care ultimately pays the highest dividend.

Bible Blessings® Offers Christian gifts to take the shield of faith April 08 2014

Bible Blessings Christian Gifts Family Christian Stores

Bible Blessings® knows Christian gifts are more than luxurious fashion accessories that represent your faith. Christian gifts in other forms allow you to overcome many obstacles in life.

Taking the shield of faith

In Ephesians, we read “In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one” 6:16. If you remember during Roman times, a Roman soldier's shield protected him from head to toe.

It was made of iron, upholstered in thick layers of fabric, and saturated in water when going to battle.

Consequently, the flaming arrows of the enemy fizzled on contact. Getting the idea? When you take up the shield of faith,  you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

The gifts of a pure heart

Satan can't penetrate a heart that's pure, saturated in Scripture and fortified by faith. That's why Jesus told Peter that because he prayed for him, his faith would not fail. It's your faith that's under attack.

It's your faith that needs to be fed and nurtured. It's your faith that sustains you in life's battles! Jesus told us to have faith in God. He didn't just say, "Have faith in something bigger than yourself." No, He said, "Have faith in God."

Claim your gifts

If you're under attack today claim this promise that God gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might, He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They will run and not be weary, and they will walk and not faint.

God gives each of us a measure of faith. But you must develop it by building yourself up on your most holy faith. Faith under attack is faith under construction. It's in the battles of life that you discover whether you have nurtured faith or neglected faith!

Bible Blessings® offers four examples of gifts given to any and every Christian who will take a moment to recognize the practical benefits of knowing God.

Experience the Gifts of Christianity

They’re not hard to find. You merely have to open your heart and mind and accept the graciousness of God’s gifts. Consider these four:

  1. Blessing - The more you know God and obey His will, the more you'll experience His blessings. “If you obey all the decrees and commands I am giving you today, all will be well with you and your children” (Deuteronomy 4:40).
  2. Peace – “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God” (2 Peter 1:2). The more you know God, the more inner peace you will have. Yes, struggles and setbacks will come, but even then you'll have a sense of well-being because you'll feel His nearness.
  3. Wisdom - Paul prayed that God would give the Ephesians “a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him” (Ephesians 1:17 NAS). Wisdom is seeing things the right way. Revelation is when God bypasses the limitations of your mind and shows you things you otherwise wouldn't know. You can walk each day in a “spirit of wisdom and of revelation.”
  4. Freedom – “When you did not know God, you were slaves to those which by nature are no gods” (Galatians 4:8). Without the confidence that comes from knowing God, and your standing before Him, you become a slave to circumstances, emotions or other people's opinions. Refuse to live that way. Instead, get to know God better.

There is no replacement for the spiritual benefits you receive as a follower of Christ. No amount of material objects can provide the uplifting, nurturing and unconditional love that you get when you commit to a life of Christianity.

Take time to reflect upon the many wonders and benefits that you experience every day. Reflect upon and give thanks for God’s unconditional love and blessings to all Christians.

Bible Blessings® knows the wonderful responsibility of Christian Gifts March 25 2014

Bible Blessings Christian Gifts

Bible Blessings® knows Christian gifts come with great responsibility. Being a Christian is not always easy in today’s world, and it is important to remember why we are blessed with the many Christian gifts bestowed upon us because of our faith and belief in our religion.

Finding Blessings and Gifts in unexpected places

Joshua and Caleb faced formidable foes in the Promised Land, and yet what was their response to their enemies? “They are bread for us” Numbers 14:9.

What is bread? It is the staff of life. What happens when you eat bread? You are strengthened by it and you grow by it.

Paul also faced formidable foes. In Corinthians we read Paul’s words: “For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries” 1:16:9.

Why don’t gifts come easy to those that believe in Christianity? Because if they were easy, then you would become weak in your effort to work out your faith in God and would be less appreciative of the gifts you do receive. God places obstacles in your path to give you strength.

“Wheaties” is not the breakfast of champions— giants are. God wants you to face your difficulties head-on and depend upon Him to make you a conqueror.

What does it take to strengthen your body? What does it take to build your intellect? What does it take to grow love in relationships?

Indeed, God does amazing and unexplainable things, but there will come a time – or it may have already transpired – when you realize that Christianity doesn’t immediately solve all your problems. Illnesses don’t always go away. Broken relationships don’t always get better. Your income doesn’t miraculously improve thanks to a big fat monetary gift in the mail. Simply put, troubles don’t just up and disappear.

So what does it take? Work. Hard work and a commitment to your faith and sharing your faith. Remember the words in Philippians 2:12-13: “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”

What Henry Ford teaches us about Christian Gifts March 20 2014

Bible Blessings Christian Gifts

Bible Blessings® Christian Gifts knows the importance of fulfilling our jobs, or duties, here on earth. The automotive pioneer Henry Ford exemplified what it means to appreciate all Christian gifts presented to us – even cardboard boxes.

Thinking Outside the Box

“Do not be like them, for your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask Him.” Matthew 6:8

An American industrialist who founded the Ford Motor Company, Henry Ford championed the idea of producing quality automobiles priced right for the middle class. And, Ford was always thinking out of the box – literally and figuratively.

In one instance, Henry Ford asked some engineers to box the transmissions for his Model-T Fords in certain sized boxes. He gave meticulous dimensions and material instructions for these boxes. The builders were confused, but they did as they were told.

When the transmissions were delivered, the factory workers took apart the boxes and used them for the floorboards. How’s that for thinking out of the box?

To Believe is to Understand

That’s what God does. He knows what we need even before we ask Him and he provides those gifts to us. We may not understand all of His ways, just like the workers who were boxing up the transmissions did not understand. We do not live by our understanding; we live by His promises.

Is there something happening in your life right now that you don’t understand? Remember this verse from Proverbs - Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight - 3:5-6.

Christian Gifts you don’t have to give up for Lent March 12 2014

Bible Blessings Christian Gifts

One of the many Christian gifts we cherish is Easter and the weeks leading up to it. Ash Wednesday occurred last week, signaling the beginning of Lent. So what Christian gifts have you given up for Lent?

Giving up for Lent

Many Christians feel they have to give up something for Lent and end up giving up something that has very little impact on their lives. In the end, we end up giving up something for Lent for all the wrong reasons.

Instead of giving up a gift you cherish, considering giving up one of these five things:

  1. Self-doubt – As you believe it, so shall it be. Let go of the self-doubt and believe God has a plan for you that is beyond anything you could imagine. Remember what is said in Timothy: For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7
  2. Self-pity – Hebrews 13:5 tells us, “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’” God comforts us in our sorrow so that we can comfort others with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
  3. Blame – Don’t pass the buck; take responsibility for your actions. Romans tells us, And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
  4. Gossip and Negativity – A waste of time and energy, let go of idle and meaningless gossip and negativity. Proverbs plainly states, Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with a simple babbler. Proverbs 20:19
  5. Comparison – You have your own unique contribution to make and there is no one else like you. Remember this verse: Galatians 6:4 - But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
This is a season of reflection. The gifts you have been given by God are yours to share. Lent is more than a time to give up one of your cherished gifts. It is a time to give up and let go of the doubt and negative energies in your life and focus on sharing your spiritual gifts with others.
